A Spooky-Inspired-Styled Shoot

I have, on the rare occasion, had an idea for a styled shoot and then executed it.... and hated it. Usually because I am putting TOO much thought into the details of the shoot and not enough creativity. I always have too many props involved and it no longer works out for the vision because photos end up too cluttered.

However, when I talk to Megan and say "Wanna do a shoot I'm thinkin-" she says "immediately yes". You can always count on a best friend to roll with your crazy, spooky, slightly haunting ideas.

"Why something so spooky and dark, Ashley?"

Really no other reason than I wanted to. I gravitate towards the dark and moody editing ANYWAYS so I wanted to stretch myself in a styled shoot doing something with minimal props to see how it went... and can I say I think it went fantastic??

I definitely think I will offer these styled shoots next fall for any that care to get in the spirit... of Halloween that is.

What I am calling the cinematic shot of my dreams...

We had to take a break because it started to rain

... but then we said screw it!

And I shot through a plastic poncho.

An absolute blast hanging out with my best friend doing what we love: CREATING, cracking jokes, and being risk-takers.

THANK YOUS:

At the end of every blog, I have decided to start doing thank yous to people in my life who have helped me in my journey as a creative and a photographer.

First off, obviously, thank you to Megan, again. For every crazy idea you roll with that I throw your way. Thank you to Jae who pumps me up about nearly every single creative thing I do. I could make a good Instagram story and she would be proud. Thank you to my brother, Tyler and sis-in-law, Bailey for always believing in me and supporting me. Your belief in me means more than you know. Thank you to Jon Taylor Sweet, who I have followed since high school and became a friend over the pandemic and has encouraged me through many a creative struggle.

Although the times of clubhouse are over I cherish the times that Jon and many other photographers came together and helped each other grow.

Thank you again to everyone who has been sharing my photos, liking my posts, and sharing your love for my work with your friends and family. This is just the beginning of the new era of Ashley Creative Co.

Love you so much!

P.S. If you are working where more of the "art" shots are, I will be doing a September round-up of them in a blog post at the end of the month!
